3 POINT 0

3 Point 0, DBA “Studio T Arts & Entertainment” was founded to change the lives of at-risk youth and their families by using dance as a tool to reach difficult-to-serve populations, especially low-income minority communities. Through innovative and culturally relevant programming, we serve over 5,000 individuals each year, across three counties, five school districts, and 52 school sites. For nearly 15 years we have worked to keep Sacramento’s most vulnerable young people off the streets by giving them a positive, creative, and social alternative to drugs, teen pregnancy, gang violence, and suicide.

Most of our programs are offered as self-paced studies, with online and in-person instruction and application. We offer distance learning to school districts, locally and nationally, which gives us access to a rich pool of students, offering them seamless distance learning to complement their academic day. We leverage relationships with local superintendents, youth supports services, and principals to assist us with capturing measurable outcomes with our youth and how our trainings are being implemented in their daily lives.

Our Outreach

Take Control! Workshops

We started by teaching dance in schools, urban housing developments, after-school programs, and community centers; what we quickly found was that our students thrived, but they needed more support. We serve kids and families who face poverty, hunger, and a systematic lack of opportunity.

They constantly are forced to make impossible choices, for example, between buying food or paying rent. So, we tasked ourselves with a challenge. Including providing hope through dance, our daily work grew to include financial education, life and social skills training, and entrepreneurship. As a result, we’ve seen an explosion in the academic growth and success of our kids and the transformation of entire families.

Community Cleanup - Grove Ave.

Building a reliable, cost-effective, safe community to house homeless people is not a simple task. A different Sacramento non-profit, established in 2009, embarked on a project to do just that, and found some success in their methods, opening their first site to house homeless people on a church campus in 2017.

Over time, multiple factors ultimately lead to the downfall of the organization, which resulted in the maintenance and upkeep of the houses eventually deteriorating, especially once the homeless inhabitants were evicted and COVID-19 kept the regular church parishioners from visiting the campus.

The degradation of the site was impacting the community, so on May 22, 2020, 3 Point 0 was involved in a restoration and beautification project where more than 50 volunteers were organized and directed by key 3 Point 0 staff members in an effort to clean up the now defunct homeless housing site and parts of the surrounding community. After 3 hours, there was a noticeable difference, and after 5 hours, the entire site had been entirely transformed into a weed-free, walkable campus, ready to be the new home of any future project.
